It's Not Gas...It's God!

The Battle is the Lord's!

So...let's get this straight - Men and women who want nothing to do with God, or don't believe He exists, blame Him when things go horribly wrong?

I have one word for those of us who know better - SING!

After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his[a] holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying:

“Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.”

As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated. (2 Chronicles 20:21-22)

What kind of ambush?  The enemies of the Lord God Almighty turned on each other and destroyed themselves! (And here's an interesting side note. "Judah" means praise.  Now think about it - what's usually the first thing to go when we're under attack?  Our praise!)

The same thing happened when the Lord sent Gideon into battle against the enemies of the children of God.  After paring Gideon’s army down to an improbable size for human success, they went into battle grasping torches in their left hand and trumpets in their right.  And as Gideon’s army surrounded their enemy, blowing those three hundred trumpets, the Lord caused the (enemy) throughout the camp to turn on each other with their swords. (Judges 7:22)

On the day of the latest terrorist attack in California, I sat in a fast food restaurant listening to a mix of songs from the 1940s.  I thought the restaurant was playing a track someone there had chosen.  It turned out they were simply playing a radio station over their audio system.  And to my surprise, this song played in the middle of all the others.  The lyrics are provided below.  Take a look at the chorus and you will understand why this is a song for us today:

Oh happy day (oh happy day)
Oh happy day (oh happy day)
When Jesus washed (when Jesus washed)
When Jesus washed (when Jesus washed)
When Jesus washed (when Jesus washed)
He washed my sins away (oh happy day)
Oh happy day (oh happy day)

HE TAUGHT ME HOW TO WATCH, FIGHT AND PRAY, FIGHT AND PRAY
AND LIVE REJOICING EVERY, EVERYDAY!

Oh happy day (oh happy day)
Oh happy day (oh happy day)
Oh happy day (oh happy day)
